About Orthopedic Clinic Vitos

Orthopedic clinic "Vitos" in Kassel is one of the largest and most respected specialized hospitals in Europe. We offer a full range of services in all special areas of surgical and conservative treatment of orthopedic diseases.

We specialize in the treatment of diseases of the human musculoskeletal apparatus which has been and still remains one of the conditions for the diversity of our range of services. As a specialized hospital oriented not only on its region, we offer services that meet the highest quality standards, based on extensive knowledge and experience of our doctors, caregivers and the whole team.

We have got 140 beds including 8 beds in the intensive care unit, where all patients are closely monitored after major operations, and 5 operating rooms fitted with the most modern medical equipment.

Traditional treatment completes the range of curative options in the orthopedic clinic "Vitos" in Kassel. This therapy supplements the surgical treatment. In many cases, using the conservative orthopedic treatment we can completely avoid a surgery, or a surgery will be necessary much later.

For many patients the treatment in our clinic also includes rehabilitation. Orthopedic clinic "Vitos" in Kassel prepares patients for this and works closely with several sanatorium-type clinics.

As a head of an academic hospital of the Philipps University of Marburg prof. Werner Siebert and other doctors of our clinic are engaged not only in training of young doctors, but also in advanced training of doctors in the field of orthopedics and traumatology. In addition, the orthopedic clinic "Vitos" in Kassel works on the development of new treatment and surgical methods and is involved in many international medical researches.

With more than 1,000 operations performed annually, replacement of the knee, hip, shoulder, elbow, ankle joints, as well as the joints of the toes and fingers in diseases causing joint deterioration, is considered the main focus of the orthopedic clinic "Vitos" in Kassel. We use minimally invasive surgical methods (e.g. "keyhole surgery"), as they retain muscles and bones. Modern models of prostheses (e.g. "female knee" or hip joint prosthesis with a short stem) and specially made implants are installed. Thanks to its extensive experience, the clinic is the best place in Germany for the treatment and control of severe cases.

The Medical Director of the clinic, prof. Werner Siebert has transformed the experience he gained from daily collaboration with specialists from different countries and prostheses manufacturers into the best solutions in the field of endoprosthesis. He represents the orthopedic clinic "Vitos" in Kassel in numerous international specialized commissions and scientific societies. This is why our clinic has become an educational center in the field of endoprosthetics of various joints.

In 2013, the orthopaedic clinic "Vitos" in Kassel was the first in North Hesse to receive the "Center of Excellence for Arthroplasty" (EPZ-Max) certificate. It was confirmed in 2016 and extended to 2019.
