Professor Jörn Peter Sieb is a highly qualified specialist in the field of neuroscience and a member of a number of international and German medical societies such as the American Academy of Neurology, the German Society of Geriatrics, the German Society of Clinical Neurophysiology, German Society of Neurology, the German Society of Neurobiological Examination, the German Society for Sleep Research and Therapy, the German Society of Ultrasound Examinations. Prof. Sieb also provides consultations to German associations involved in researches of myasthenia gravis and restless legs syndrome.
One of the main spheres of activity of Neurology Department of HELIOS Clinic is an intensive therapy and emergency care. For that purpose Clinic has certified Intensive Care Unit (Stroke Unit) for patients with acute stroke. In 2016 the Unit was reorganized and re-certified under the auspices of the German Stroke Association.
Currently, our Intensive Care Unit is able to simultaneously take care of 10 patients. Thanks to modern equipment and highly qualified doctors, we show good results in optimization of intensive therapy and shortening rehabilitation period. About 800 patients per year have rehabilitation courses after stroke in Intensive Care Unit in Stralsund. The head of Intensive Care Unit of HELIOS clinics in Stralsund is Dr. Leif Lorenz. He has additional specialization in treatment of Parkinson's disease, myasthenia gravis and multiple sclerosis.
