After studying human medicine at the LMU Munich followed years as an assistant doctor at the University Hospital in Lübeck, the Thorax Clinic in Heidelberg-Rohrbach and the Klinikum Großhadern in Munich.
From 1993 to 2001 he was Senior Consultant at the Großhadern Clinic of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, where he headed the section "Minimally Invasive Surgery". Already in 1997 he performed gastric band implants.
From 2002 to 2009 Dr. Meyer Medical Director and Chief Physician of the Department of General, Visceral and Vascular Surgery of the Surgical Clinic Munich-Bogenhausen. Under his direction, an adiposity surgical center has been set up here since 2004, in which gastric bypass and gastric tube operations were carried out from the beginning, as well as biliopancreatic divisions since 2006.
Since 2010, he has been the chief physician of the Department of General, Visceral and Bariatric Surgery of the WolfartKlinik and the head of the AMC Wolfart Clinic. Here he was able to realize his vision of the first German interdisciplinary center for obesity therapy with a surgical focus in a specially available building.
From 2007 to 2011, Dr. Meyer Member of the board of the Surgical Association for Obesity Therapy (CA-ADIP) of the German Society for General and Visceral Surgery.
With more than 1000 bariatric interventions and more than 20 years of experience, the chief physician is one of the top doctors in the field of bariatric and metabolic surgery nationwide.
