About PD MD E. Gerharz

After graduating from high school in Kannenbäckerland, medical school in Mainz and Texas and military service as a medical officer, the former scholarship of the German National Academic Foundation worked at four university hospitals (including University College London and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children) and a maximum care and performed more than 3,000 surgeries (including approximately 100 kidney transplants and all major tumor surgery procedures).

Professor Gerharz received a scholarship from the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, was awarded 13 national and international prizes for his scientific work (including the Professor Geoffrey Chisholm Communication Prize of the Royal Society of Medicine), and has published about 200 articles and abstracts in renowned journals (including Cancer, Transplantation). and textbooks published and held more than 200 lectures. His textbook 'Classic Papers in Urology' has sold more than 6,000 copies. He was a member of the European Commission for the Development of Treatment Guidelines for Pediatric Urology and the Selection Committee of the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes for almost a decade and most recently served as a mentor in the Max Weber Program of the Elite Network Bavaria.

In 2009, Professor Gerharz was unanimously voted number 1 in the list of nominations for the appointment of the Chair of Urology at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf by the high-caliber appointment committee (Chairman: Univ.-Prof.

His professors include Hellmut Oelert, Berthold Ulshöfer, Hans Grönniger, Christopher R.J. Woodhouse (The Lord Terrington) and Hubertus Riedmiller.

Professor Gerharz is fluent in British English, an avid cinema and theater artist and an active member of the Frankfurt rowing company Germania 1869.
