Gentle anti-wrinkle, eye bags and even slouching techniques are increasingly replacing beauty surgery. The current state of the treatments in which facial areas they help, what they cost, how long the effect lasts and how to find a good practitioner. With a new ultrasound technology, even slip riders can be lifted.
There are various options for cheek wrinkles, depending on whether the cheeks are full or slender.
To inject wrinkles with autologous fat has almost become obsolete, because of unpleasant consequences.
Age is written in our faces. But the traces of time such as wrinkles, contour or volume loss can be mitigated or even reversed. It used to require a large facial lift, with cuts behind the ears, temples and chin to lift and tone the skin. However, this complex operation is performed less and less.
Minimally invasive methods with botulinum toxin, hyaluronic acid, laser and ultrasound have evolved to almost outnumber beauty surgery.
By comparison, only around 110,000 of these invasive procedures are performed annually in Germany, which is around one fifth less than the 165,000 soft-tissue wrinkle treatments. 150,000 are women, 15,000 men. The most popular procedures in 2015 for the facial treatment are Botox and Filler in women, for men lasers and fillers, according to a survey by the GÄCD (Society for Aesthetic Surgery Germany).
Presumably, minimally invasive measures are used even more frequently, because there is no official statistic to which all doctors report gentle treatments.
But how can the various areas of the face be specifically rejuvenated? We present the latest state of the treatment methods:
"Botulinum toxin A is the drug of choice in this area, both as a causal and preventive therapy," says Tatjana Pavicic. The dermatologist is a board member of the International Society of Dermatologic Surgery (ISDS) and the International Master Course on Aging Skin (IMCAS) Academy.
During treatment, the dose for the botulinum injections should be chosen so that the muscle relaxant does not freeze the facial expressions, but only relaxes them. In this way, forehead and anger wrinkles smooth. The treatment hardly hurts, only the punctures prick something.
The effect occurs after a few days and is about four to six months, depending on the strength of the muscles. Then the treatment can be repeated. With prolonged use, the effect could last even longer, because you get rid of the "evil eye", says the expert.
