Who does not want her? The dazzling white, even teeth that symbolize health and youth and are considered attractive for yourself and the opposite sex. White teeth are naturally given to very few people. However, beautiful teeth are no longer an unrealizable dream. On the way to the beautiful white is decided between a professional bleaching and veneers. Because what many seem to find easier is not the best for all. What patients should know about modern, aesthetic procedures.

A tooth bleaching is the well-known and usually first choice method for whitening the teeth. By means of a bleaching gel containing hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), the yellowish pigments in the enamel are discolored gently. Professionally performed by the dentist, it is a simple and gentle procedure that treats all natural teeth equally and maintains good oral hygiene for up to four years.

A before-and-after difference is visible in all patients and yet there are spans in white. A whitening gel brightens the teeth by two to three color levels. However, the starting point for the result is the individual natural white of each person and here are the deviations. On the basis of a color scale, the dentist shows the patient during a consultation how bright his teeth can become and whether this white even meets his expectations. The patient should definitely keep in mind: not with a maximum whitening teeth are beautiful, but beautiful is what works naturally and fits individually to the personal skin type!

Bleaching can be done with any adult. If the teeth and gums are healthy and all fillings are tight, the professional bleaching procedure performed by the dentist is a gentle and safe procedure that achieves a wonderful result in a short time.

Why veneers then?

Veneers are for some patients the long-recommended way to get beautiful teeth. While whitening concentrates exclusively on whiteness, the color and shape of the tooth can be adjusted with veneers. For example, veneers cover small, broken corners, severely worn edges of the incisors, unsightly forms of incisors or canines, and also ensure the radiant white. If a change in the color and shape of the teeth in the visible range is desired, veneers and not bleaching are the dental aesthetic solution.

Veneers are also the first drug of choice when it comes to the desired whiteness in patients with a lot of dentures. Because only the natural, own teeth react to the hydrogen peroxide of the whitening gel! Crowns, inlays or fillings, on the other hand, are completely unaffected by the whitening process. Especially in the visible area veneers can avoid irregular whiteness.

Veneers are very thin, translucent - and therefore natural - white ceramic veneers, which are attached to the tooth or on several teeth. Veneers are individually handcrafted for the patient in shape and color and are therefore much more expensive on the way to the radiant white. While a professional bleaching costs on average up to 700 euros, the cost of veneers can be at 1,300 euros - per veneer.

However, veneers are well worth the price when it comes to tooth whitening: The ultra-thin ceramic shells are tailor-made for the patient, extremely durable and perform the same as their own teeth. They shine in radiant, natural white, and with the best of it: With good oral hygiene veneers keep their white usually over 20 years.

Bleaching or Veneers - Patients should be well informed before they request a new tooth whitening! It is possible today in modern dental aesthetics many, often a combination of both procedures is the ideal. Even more important, however, is finding the optimal solution for each patient.
