Since the beginning of 1992, as a staff member of Prof. Menapace, since the end of 1994, he has been the architect and later head of the Special Outpatient Clinic for Ocular Tumors, from which the main work for the habilitation was also created.

Here especially the development and research of the application possibilities of stereotactic radiotherapy (Gamma Knife, LINAC) for the treatment of malignant choroidal tumors.

Around 100 scientific papers in specialist journals and books, especially in the field of ophthalmic oncology, but also collagen structures of the cornea, new anaesthesiological procedures in cataract surgery, work on new intraocular lenses, work on strabismus in children.

Prof. Zehetmayer opened an ophthalmological practice in 2001, first at Krugerstrasse, 1010 Vienna. This was relocated to the new address in Währingerstrasse 3, 1090 Vienna, as part of the founding of the Vienna Eye Laser Center together with Prof. Kruger.
