About MD G. Dubbe
The name Lubinus has been associated with endoprosthetics for decades.
Already in 1963, for the first time in Northern Germany, a hip joint endoprosthesis was used in the Lubinus Clinicum.
We now implant more than 1,700 prostheses every year, including more than 200 replacement operations of all levels of difficulty, on all the major joints of the body and can look back on over 35,000 such procedures.
The main focus of our department is the endoprosthetic treatment of all major joints of the body. Due to the long-rising numbers in primary implantation, especially of knee and hip endoprostheses, the frequency of replacement surgery is now increasing rapidly. Patients from all over Germany and increasingly from abroad now present themselves in the clinic with problematic courses after prosthesis implantation.
In cooperation with Waldemar Link, Hamburg, endoprosthetics are also being developed in the Lubinus Clinicum and implanted after adequate validation. Thus, in 1974, the "Lubinus standard shaft" was designed, which has achieved widespread use in the past.
The search for the anatomy of better adapted implants led in 1978 to the world's first anatomically shaped prosthesis stem, which continues to develop today as "Lubinus SP 2 stem" used internationally.
In addition, surgeons have a variety of cementless and short stem implants available, which are selected according to different criteria. In addition, in order to take account of the increasing demands on the biomechanics of the hip joint, since 1993 we have been using a computer-aided sign system developed in-house for preoperative planning of the operation. With the help of this planning technique, a noticeable improvement of the early mobilization could be achieved in addition to an improved restoration of the biomechanics of lever arm and pivot point. Meanwhile, this system is also available as a completely digital version.
In addition, the department has the certified in-house bone bank for the treatment of large bone defects.
The team is flanked by a consultant for microbiology, a responsible doctor for hygiene issues as well as a specially trained hygiene specialist nurse.
