About MD C. Ranft

The Department of Hand and Microsurgery was founded in 1991 under the direction of Dr. med. med. Christoph Ranft founded, first as a ltd. Senior physician of the clinic was responsible for this department. However, since his entry into the clinic in July 1987, the company's home-based surgical services have increased manyfold every year, so that a qualified treatment of the required amount of services required a specifically trained medical team.

Since then, Dr. Ranft Specialists in orthopedics and traumatology specializing in hand and microsurgery are trained to obtain the specialty additional term hand surgery, some of them now work as hand surgeons at the branch or at other clinics.

Meanwhile, the medical equipment of the department includes 6 posts. Five of them are staffed by specialists. For many years now, all doctors have been experienced surgical surgeons who have experienced the core medical team for one and more than two decades in specialist hand surgery.

Approximately 1,800 surgical interventions are performed each year on an inpatient and outpatient basis, and around 6,500 patients are examined and treated annually in the hand surgery consultation hours. The close integration of the specialist department with the general emergency ambulance of the Clinicum gives colleagues in trauma surgery the option of consulting a hand surgeon in good time after an accident or even handing over the treatment to the hand specialist if necessary. The networking with the other specialist departments in the house makes it ideally possible to be able to treat interdisciplinary medical problems at short notice and competently.

In cooperation with the established colleagues, the treatments are closely coordinated after an operation. The rehabilitation department integrated in our Medical Care Center and other physiotherapy and occupational therapy practices take on the necessary physiotherapeutic and occupational therapy for "hand patients", always in close correspondence with the physicians of the department.

A treatment focus of the department is as an example the supply of accidental injuries of the hand and wrist; except amputations that require an implantation. The treatment of these special injuries is specifically reserved for specially equipped centers.

In addition, all diseases and / or accidental consequences of the hand and wrist (except special tumor surgery), the operative pain therapy of the hand and arm and nerve compression syndrome are treated. You can find the special breakdown of the main treatment areas and the corresponding sample images under the corresponding links.

For many years, there has been particular scientific interest in research work with the development of surgical procedures and their clinical application in modern operative fracture treatment on the wrist and wrist skeleton, especially the function preserving surgical procedure in severe wrist and finger fractures and in the further development of endoprosthetics at the finger joints; Included are possible correction operations for fracture healing.

Ordinary membership in the relevant specialist societies and participation in specialist congresses and operations workshops guarantee constant exchange of expertise with colleagues, also on an international level, so that the qualification of the department is continuously maintained at a very high level.

The division's treatment is to provide each patient with a customized, meaningful, feasible and sustainable solution for their "hand / wrist problem". It must also be taken into account special occupational burdens and other living conditions, so often not only the hand, but the whole person in his living environment is the goal of medical attention. Often, more complex dysfunctions require ample time for examinations and the development of treatment plans; This time is invested with each patient, because only the right diagnosis and the adequate therapy makes an intelligent participation of the affected one possible.
