Within this examination, we visuallize the urethra and bladder to find out possible causes of blood in urine or incontinence. An optical instrument is introduced through the urethra into the bladder and assesses the bladder wall, , the urethra, the prostate, and the sphincter.
The instrument can be equipped with various tools such as knives, loop, etc., to remove foreign bodies or to take tissue samples.
The mirroring of the ureter and renal hollow system is performed under general anesthesia or spinal cord anesthesia. It is used for diagnosis of outflow obstruction of kidney ureter or renal pelvis behind which tumors can hide.
Radiographic examination begins with an overview image of the abdomen to assess renal, bladder and the bony pelvis. By injecting a contrast medium into the vein, the hollow organs of the urinary tract can be examined. Particularly in case of the prostate enlargement a radiological examination of the urethra with contrast medium is necessary.
