In addition to his training as a specialist in general surgery, accident surgery and orthopedics, since 1982 specializes Prof. Habermeyer in treatment of the shoulder joint and in 1984 he opened the first in Germany special outpatient clinic for shoulder surgery at the Surgical University of Munich. In 1986, he expanded his operating spectrum and together with the usual shoulder surgery he performs shoulder arthrocopy as well as shoulder prosthetics. In 1990 he published his first textbook on shoulder surgery, today its 5th edition is the standard textbook for German-speaking countries with over 15,000 copies sold. Since the foundation of the German Shoulder Center in 2012, Prof. Habermeyer now has a broad surgical experience having performed over 20,000 shoulder surgeries, including over 3,000 shoulder prostheses installed. With more than 100 scientific publications and decades of congress activity, he continues to gain clinical-scientific experience.

Prof. Dr. med. Peter Habermeyer is one of the world's leading specialists in the field of shoulder surgery.

As a former President of the European Society of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery (SECEC), he has been regularly listed as one of the most renowned shoulder surgeons of Germany since the foundation of the FOCUS physicians directory.
