About MD P. Bock

In 2005, working as a surgeon in the Department of Foot and Ankle Surgery, I became the head of this department at the Danube Hospital and successfully managed it until 2013, during which time I performed more than 3,000 surgical procedures. In 2013, I was asked to join a team of specialists in the well-known orthopedic hospital Spising, whose leadership I took in September 2016.

I am pleased to welcome you to my private practice. I am an orthopedic surgeon and specialize mainly in foot and ankle surgery, as well as in the knee joint. After intensive training, I have been working as a specialist in orthopedics and orthopedic surgery with additional training as a sports orthopedist since 2006.

In 2005, working as a surgeon in the foot and ankle joint, I began an active practical activity at the Danube Hospital and successfully managed it until 2013, during which time I performed more than 3,000 surgical procedures. In 2013, I was asked to join a team of operating doctors at the well-known orthopedic hospital Speysing, whose leadership I took in September 2016.

The duties of the chief surgeon in the foot surgery department at Vienna's Donauspital hospital and the head of the foot surgery department in the Speising orthopedic hospital allowed me to perform various operations in the field of foot surgery and diseases of the foot and ankle joint, including correcting hallux valgus deformity of the foot, lower leg, plus bones, eliminate pain in the legs, flat feet and excesses. Low foot, Achilles tendon disease, calcaneal spur, damage to ligaments and problems with cartilage on the ankle - all this is my area of activity. I am particularly concerned about minimally invasive and arthroscopic foot surgery.

My other specialization is surgery of the knee joint with arthroscopy, treatment of injuries of the meniscus and cartilage, as well as replacement of the knee joint.

It was a special honor for me to serve as President of the Austrian Society of Foot Surgery (www.fussgesellschaft.at) from 2016 to 2017 as part of my specialization and thanks to my many years of experience in the field of foot surgery. I am also a member of the study committee of the European Association of Lower Limb Diseases (www.efas.co), a lecturer at the Medical University of Vienna and the Sigmund Freud University in Vienna, as well as the supervisor for graduate students in their medical research. As part of these tasks, I regularly give lectures at national and international courses and conferences.

In 2007, I was one of two pan-European specialists in pathology of the lower extremities selected in 2013, and one of five worldwide participants in the travel grant program, which included several weeks at the foot surgery clinics with leading specialists in the United States (including Dr. Mark Myerson, Hospital of Mercy and Dr. Liu Sean, Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore).

Dr. Bock has performed more than 5,000 orthopedic surgeries and is constantly deepening his knowledge in the field of orthopedics, regularly attending scientific congresses and courses, acting as a lecturer and performing scientific work along with practical activities in the hospital. Dr. Bock has written and published a large number of scientific publications.

As an orthopedic surgeon and specialist in the field of surgical treatment of the lower extremities, I practice interventions on the foot and treatment of diseases of the ankle joint, such as hallux valgus. I will also be happy to help you get rid of diseases of other joints, for example, knee joints with meniscus and problems with cartilage.

Two types of therapy are used in orthopedics: conservative (medication, physiotherapy, etc.) and surgical. Very often, these two forms of therapy are used simultaneously to achieve a faster, positive result.

As an orthopedic surgeon and foot surgeon, I offer patients the following conservative methods of treatment and correction of foot and ankle pathology:

  • Classic support insoles,
  • Podological insoles,
  • Orthoses / bandages,
  • Orthopedic consultations of athletes,
  • Therapy of arthrosis (intraarticular injection of hyaluronic acid),
  • Relief of pain,
  • Manual techniques for treating joint diseases.

In addition, physiotherapy is an important part of the conservative treatment of joint diseases and subsequent therapy after performing operations on the foot or knee, so I work with a group of physiotherapists to guarantee you the most effective therapy.
