MD PD Heimbucher is a specialist in surgery and the chief physician of the Department of Surgery at the Marienkrankenhaus in Kassel, medical director of the Obesity Center North Hesse.
He has been specializing in the surgical treatment of obesity for more than 16 years and, as one of the most experienced obesity surgeons, is one of the founders of bariatric surgery in Germany. Thus, under his leadership, one of the first multidisciplinary teams for the treatment of adiposity in Germany was founded at the University Hospital Würzburg. It covers all modern procedures currently used in bariatric surgery.

Also this year, private lecturer MD Johannes Heimbucher was once again voted one of the top physicians in the field of bariatric surgery by Focus magazine. He also received the award as a top physician in the field of antireflux therapy. Heimbucher is the head doctor of the Obesity Center North Hesse, based in the Marienkrankenhaus Kassel (MKH).
For many years, MD Heimbucher is active in the Surgical Society for Bariatric Surgery and, due to his high level of expertise, is one of the auditors of the certification program. “We have been performing all established operations for the therapy of obesity for more than twenty years and are of course certified as a competence center for obesity and metabolic surgery,” says Heimbucher. We have a qualified team of doctors from various specialties, ecotrophologists, nutritionists, sports and psychotherapists at our disposal, who accompany our patients according to the latest treatment standards for long-term treatment. The renowned surgeon also heads the North Hesse Reflux Center, also located in the MKH.
With around 500 reflux patients per year, the North Hesse Reflux Center is one of the most efficient and modern facilities for the diagnosis and treatment of reflux disease in Germany. "With our interdisciplinary and highly specialized team, we offer diagnostics and therapy in accordance with the latest standards of the medical specialist societies," says Heimbucher.
