The Clinic of Schwarzwald-Baar – innovation and competence
The Schwarzwald-Baar Clinic is one of the 10 largest non-university hospitals in the South of Germany. 26 specialized departments, including highly specialized centers and sub-departments, offer a range of services focused on the innovative medicine. Since July 2013 the clinic moved to a new building and, thus, is now the most modern hospital in the central German region.

Department of Internal Medicine II: Gastroenterology
Welcome to the Department of Internal Medicine I. We look after and treat patients with diseases in the field of general internal medicine, gastroenterology (digestive tract), Diabetology (diabetes), endocrinology (hormones) and rheumatology (Rheumatic diseases and autoimmune disorders). In our clinical geriatrics, we can offer treatment, which is optimally adapted to the needs of older people. A highly qualified medical and nursing team takes care of patients around the clock. We cooperate closely with the other medical clinics and with external partners (Nephrology center of Villingen-Schwenningen). At our outpatient clinics and outpatient surgery are possible. Emergencies outside office hours are supplied competent and committed in the central emergency room.

- Endoscopic ultrasonography of the upper gastrointestinal tract and rectum including endosonographically controlled interventions (puncture, drainage)

Services of the cardiology department
- Interventional cardiology (cardiac catheterization):
- Links cardiac catheterization and coronary angiography
- Right heart catheterization, optionally in combination with transseptal puncture
- Coronary artery angioplasty (PTCA), usually in combination with the implantation of vascular supports (stents)
- Acute recanalization closed coronary arteries in heart attack patients as part of a 24-hour standby (primary PTCA)
- CTO: Reopening chronic closures using special catheter techniques
- Implantation intraaortal balloon pump (IABP) in patients in circulatory shock
- Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS)
- Intravascular optical coherence tomography (OCT)
In the medical centers of Schwarzwald-Baar, specialists of different disciplines perform the diagnosis and treatment of specific diseases. Interdisciplinary cooperation enables optimal treatment of patients.
