The Schwarzwald-Baar Clinic is one of the 10 largest non-university hospitals in the South of Germany. 26 specialized departments, including highly specialized centers and sub-departments, offer a range of services focused on the innovative medicine. Since July 2013 the clinic moved to a new building and, thus, is now the most modern hospital in the central German region.
The Department of Orthopedics of the Schwarzwald-Baar Clinic specializes in treatment of all kinds of joint diseases, injuries of the musculoskeletal system and soft tissue abnormalities of the foot. The Clinic also has gathered invaluable experience in, special orthopedic surgery and orthopedics rheumatism treatment.
Head of the Department is Professor Thomas Leonhard, an experienced orthopedic surgeon and specialist in hip replacement.
All the major diagnostic possibilities are available to our patients, including sonography (ultrasound), computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. Our department has 79 beds and an intensive care unit so that we can supply our patients with maximum comfort and top medical care. The treatment focuses on the care of inpatients, but of course we offer our patients whenever possible, also all types of outpatient surgery.
Our surgeons perform more than 5,000 hip, knee, hand, shoulder, ankle, elbow, wrist and finger joint replacements per year.
