Is implantation on you but your jawbone is too thin? Then a bone structure in the form of a sinus lift in preparation for the implant is necessary. The sinus lift is used to thicken a too thin maxillary sinus floor, usually to be able to then work with dentures, such as dental implants.
A distinction is made between the internal (closed), external (open) sinus lift and Balloon-Lift-Control system. The balloon procedure is another innovative sinus lift variant.
The internal (closed) Sinuslift variant is the smaller and less complex sinus floor design variant. If there is a slight height deficit of the bone, this form of sinus lift can be used to gain a few millimeters in height of the bone.
The external (open) sinus lift is the more complex sinus lift variant and requires a more invasive procedure. The external sinus lift becomes necessary for larger defects of the bone with too little residual bone height. As soon as several millimeters of bone are needed for a stable anchoring of the implants in length, your dentist will choose this variant for long-term success.
The Balloon Lift Control System (BLC) is an innovative technique that has been specially developed to replace the maxillary sinus mucosa. The minimally invasive, very safe and easy-to-learn procedure is based on a fluid-filled balloon catheter. One speaks also of a balloon-assisted sinus lift. Less well known is the name Transkretale Antro Membrano Plastie.
